Here’s to all the good work.

Imagine my biggest surprise during my appointment with the hematologist earlier on in the week, my PCV had increased and had almost reached my stable count. I was thrilled.

If you recall, my last consultation with the general physician had revealed that my PCV level was dropping and I required a transfusion but within the space of three days it had increased and was no more within the low threshold. I felt a burst of energy and added strength. After everything I had been through in almost three weeks, my faith had finally paid off. I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful to God for making this happen.

As I sat across the hematologist, he looked at me asking what I had done differently. From the turn of events, I listed all the new medications I was on. From his partners increase of my dose of folic acid and the addition of the vitamin C; my consultation with my neurologist and his change of my medication and; finally my appointment with the nutritionist and her introduction of plant based supplements, probiotics and changes to my diet. He looked at me and admitted that all I was doing was good and that I should continue in that stead.

However my test results showed the need for a reduction to my hydroxyurea which he admitted could sometimes cause a warriors blood level to deplete if it was too high and as such he decided to reduce the dosage. He also added a bit of amino acids to my medication and asked me to go home.

What thrilled me the most was that as I had gone for my appointment with him that day, I had packed a small bag just incase he had insisted on recommending a transfusion by means of a catheter. So you all can imagine my joy to know that this procedure would not be done and I could go back to my normal routine. Also the inexpressible joy that my silent prayers had been answered by God. He had done what only he and he alone could do. I could only be grateful for his love and thankful for his goodness once more to me.
Just before leaving, the hematologist urged me to continue with all my medications and stated that he wanted to see my PCV continue to go up even above my normal threshold.

So I guess to all you my readers, especially warriors out there, be encouraged in whatever situation you may be going through. Most of all take it to the lord in prayer and watch him lead you and do what only he alone can do.

Take care.
