Overcoming as a lifestyle.
My time off has been endless and I know. I’m sorry it took that long.
I had so many activities I was dealing with, that I couldn’t manage all of them at once. I required ample time to reorganize myself.
So here I am once more.
I noticed a lot of activity on this site whilst I was gone. Thank you for staying on. I hope life activities haven’t been too difficult for you of late? It pays to note the ones that count.
My post today is a different kind as my heart reaches out to those of you warriors who don’t have the strength to work or retain a job. In fact, my post for today is dedicated just to you.
It must be very defeating for you not to have a job OR probably to have had one but have been unable to retain it. I don’t know the circumstances that surrounded your having to leave but if it turned out to be one with mixed feelings then please don’t be too hard on yourself.
I recall in my journey at the workplace that there were times that I struggled to hold down my job. Infact it was trailed with a lot of excuses of being unable to resume at the office on certain days. I had a lot of negative factors that were working against my strength. One very important one was my neurological medication which caused me to long for more hours of sleep. I just couldn’t bring myself to start my day.
To say the truth if not for God’s favour in giving me understanding managers I would’ve given up at the slightest instance.
Please build your stamina warriors, don’t give up!
The fight to hold down a job starts in your mind. If you give up there then your body responds to that stimulus that your mind communicates to it. Let me expatiate.
Imagine an individual that has suffered a leg injury which has caused them to be confined to a wheelchair. If they give in to defeat, it will be impossible for them to have hope that they’ll ever walk again because their mind has told their body that it is impossible. So I say to you warriors that find yourselves in such a place, please build your stamina.
Don’t overexert yourself, just work on your stamina. You could choose to go on daily walks to achieve this. You could also go to the gym to use the treadmill. But do so at your pace. Over time you’ll notice that quick exhaustion will be a thing of the past such that you’ll be able to go an extra mile. I’m also working on this area at the moment.
Secondly, it pays to own up to your bosses about your health challenge.
The reason is not to be pitied but simply for their information. Make them understand that you’ll get the job done but sometimes your pace may not be as quick as others. Try not to inform them before you get recruited for the job, but a few weeks or months into it. It is important not to hide it so that if they may have noticed your pace, they’ll understand the reason behind it.
It is important to watch what you eat.
Remove junk meals and highly processed foods from your diet. Try to eat more Legumes such as beans, Roots and Tubers like potatoes, and yam; Grains like rice; Oats; Vegetables and lots of fruits, milk, and yogurts. Try to also indulge in eating apples and drink lots of water.
My visit to the nutritionist armed me with this information. Hence, I try not to indulge in processed foods because it saps me of the valuable nutrients I acquired from eating plant-based foods. Try it out and watch how your body responds.
Another point to note warriors is to be patient with yourself.
Don’t punish yourself unduly with negative words if you are unable to attain as quickly as others. Understand that you are one individual. Learn to remove yourself from that job and know that you’ll get the job done at your own pace. This way when the pressure from the job hits hard it doesn’t get to you.
More importantly, never tell yourself you cannot attain like others.
The more you refuse to affirm this and to not give in to negative thoughts, you’ll stop remembering you are a warrior and at this point, you would’ve overcome in your mind.
I really hope this helps you.
Take care and talk to you all soon.
