Is it true that I shouldn’t?

Sometimes living with Sickle Cell Disease could give one a thousand limitations to live by, but guess what? Such limitations don’t define us. I’d like to tag some warriors who chose to overcome nonetheless. Although the impediments were set for them whilst growing up, they all braced up. Below are their true-life accounts. I hope it encourages us, warriors because we definitely need to defy the norm. Reference: @sicklecell101 – Faces of Sickle Cell “Proving Them Wrong”.

    Watch this space.

“Tough times never last, tough people do” ― Robert H. Schuller. Thinking once more about it, I’m trying to apply the above quote to the present situation that seems to be lurking the world over. I know I had stated earlier that we should be careful with our resources and try to put aside revenue for the future. However, with the current recession and increase in living costs, this advice may not apply anymore. I don’t mean to be a soothsayer but watching the trend all over the globe, the value of money seems to be depreciating (taking the context of Nigerian…

    Why upset each other?

I had a full plate last weekend so it was quite impossible to juggle that with sending a new blog post.Just last week, I decided to take up more activities to have more work-life balance in my space. You would never believe the particular activity I chose in question. This particular activity had tremendous benefits but I started the wrong way so rather than revel in it, the aftermath turned out to be rather uncomfortable. The activity in question? going to the gym. My decision to use the treadmill for 8-10 minutes started me off on a bad note. I…

    Let it out.

I started a project two years ago and abandoned it, why? because I lacked the vision to move it forward. Fast forward to our present day, I’m reinitiating it because my vision now is less cloudy. Sometimes it takes opening up to others to expand your horizon and see things from a much different perspective. At certain times, we could start activities with no clear vision in mind, unknown to us that someone else, out of sheer admiration has a different view on how we could harness our strength. What exactly am I saying? One should never underestimate the days…

    Take time out to listen.

Blogging and searching for posts isn’t as easy as it looks. There are days when life gives you hints and there are also days when nothing comes to mind. Today being the latter instance, I made up my mind to write something nonetheless. Please don’t be drawn back by my somewhat new blogging pattern. I’ve come to understand that everyone nowadays is wrapped up in their issues and no one seems to have time to spare. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to criticize, just stating the obvious. There’s nothing as bad as getting so used to asking about…

There couldn’t have been a better narration.

This is quite an odd narrative I’m about to share but it is a true-life account of the challenges we warriors experience daily. It states in detail what it was like growing up for Mr. Adekunle Gold, a Nigerian highlife singer/songwriter who gained popularity, after releasing the 2015 hit single “Sade”. Tagged as “Surviving Sickle Cell to become a music star”. His account in every single way narrates my personal experiences shared on this blog. Home is where the heart is.

As I mentally counted the number of activities (hobbies) I’d ventured into of late, I realized that it wasn’t so bad. Some activities take time and consistency to bring up lasting results. Consistency is one definite feature of success; mine isn’t excluded from the list. Browsing through the home page of my Facebook wall, I stumbled once more on a quote that I deemed to be a continuation from last week. It’s a pretty subtle quote that has a way of making you note the people that could fall into the category. However, this wasn’t what got me, rather, it…

Out with the old, in with the new.

I hadn’t forgotten you all. I simply took some time off to try to re-strategize and think of other ways to move the blog forward. I have books I’ve written which I’ve been dragging my feet in launching as e-books. There’s no reason but the inner gut feeling, that it may not be the best timing.  As I searched deep for other ideas, one of which is already in the store, I kept telling myself that it would be wrong to venture into so much and not keep up with any.  So, I’m taking my time and watching my strides.   I…

    Genuine paradoxes.

I’ve discovered that speaking in paradoxes can be so much fun especially when the hearer can decode the language immediately.“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” can be viewed as a simple example of a paradox. Now I’ll take it up a notch by stating a more complicated one.“You should learn to walk before you run because when you don’t, the problems you encounter will prevent you from going further”. It is quite complicated, isn’t it? The master potter gave me this above paradox when I was at my wit’s end concerning a very delicate issue.First of all, you…
