    The startling effect.

Having discussed in detail the effect of the aftermath of fuel subsidy removal on the family and feeding patterns. It’s easy to deduce the ripple effect this has had on small and medium enterprises as well as larger organizations. However, there’s one effect that many of us did not envisage.  During the last holidays when families and individuals traveled en masse to their various hometowns and villages for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Many of them did not return to the cities where they dwelt as it was no longer the order of the day to do so.  The reason…

    Who had the upper hand?

I mentioned last week that we would discuss in detail, Adams that beat today. However, after much thought, it’s necessary to note that I already dealt with this topic in a shared category – The sadness of her tears – My learning points. The category is called – “The trauma of rejection – A compelling story”. Although it discusses the issue from the perspective of a victim of abuse, I believe the victim is more at risk compared to the attacker. The only solution I would offer to an abuser or perpetrator of domestic violence is to go to a…

    A bitter pill to swallow.

It may be a good idea to look at the family aspect today. This brings to mind a discussion I recently had with a realtor. He mentioned how some families have resorted to moving into smaller apartments as against living in their duplexes and terrace houses to ease expenses resulting from the fuel hike. It’s now easy to understand why we’ve seen such a spike in real estate costs of late. It doesn’t just end here as many families struggle to keep up with the cost of feeding their households, which also seems to have tripled in recent times. It’s…

    An intricate look inward?

I’ve been thinking and you all know what occurs when I do. Welcome to my new relationship series – “Fuel Subsidy – the Aftermath”. You may want to know the reason behind my new series? Let’s just say I had a lengthy discussion with an old friend. After discussing non-stop for over an hour, it led to this creative category. Now I won’t be reflecting once more on the events that heralded the fuel subsidy removal. You could read that up in my previous post – The Nigerian Spirit. What I want to talk about today, is the aftermath. The…

    Take time out to listen.

Blogging and searching for posts isn’t as easy as it looks. There are days when life gives you hints and there are also days when nothing comes to mind. Today being the latter instance, I made up my mind to write something nonetheless. Please don’t be drawn back by my somewhat new blogging pattern. I’ve come to understand that everyone nowadays is wrapped up in their issues and no one seems to have time to spare. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to criticize, just stating the obvious. There’s nothing as bad as getting so used to asking about…

Home is where the heart is.

As I mentally counted the number of activities (hobbies) I’d ventured into of late, I realized that it wasn’t so bad. Some activities take time and consistency to bring up lasting results. Consistency is one definite feature of success; mine isn’t excluded from the list. Browsing through the home page of my Facebook wall, I stumbled once more on a quote that I deemed to be a continuation from last week. It’s a pretty subtle quote that has a way of making you note the people that could fall into the category. However, this wasn’t what got me, rather, it…
