Half full OR Half empty?

It won’t be such a bad idea to share something absurd today. Although, you may have to guess if it’s true-life or fictitious. Kindly term it as some of the multifarious problems one could encounter when they venture into life as a young adult. Before I begin, I’d like to say that sometimes there are two ways of viewing issues. Either one chooses to see their problems as a glass that’s “half full” OR a glass, that’s “half empty”. So here we go.

When she ventured into world all alone, the experience to her was somewhat thrilling. Why? funds seemed to be at her disposal. She had saved up, paid her rent and toured the city in her ride. Where to? in search of all the items she required to furnish her newly rented apartment. Everything she bought was new, nothing transferred.

Eight months into her stay in her apartment, she began to have issues. Without warning, her brand new generator, suddenly stopped. This problem occurred at an odd hour, when she was left with no option but to wait for over 24hours to get the help of a generator repairer. “How upsetting for it to happen on a late Saturday evening”, she wailed, as all her attempts to plead with the gen. repairer to come on a Sunday proved abortive.

Her problem was this. Sunday was a day of rest for many citizens in her country. It was difficult to get assistance on such a day. On Monday and all through the following week, she would go to the office very early and return late each night. This situation could cause her home to be filled with darkness, knowing the epileptic power situation prevalent in her environment. Thoughts juggled through her head, trying to find a possible solution but none came to mind. Her only choice was to zero her mind to face what she termed as a possible “dark week” except, she exempts herself from official duties, to address the issue. After several laments, it dawned on her that there was no solution. She had to endure the unpleasant situation until the following weekend to get it fixed. Hmm..

On a different occasion, it was her blender that stopped while in operation. She intended to use the ingredients it was processing to prepare her meal. How unpleasant she thought, as she persuaded her electrician to leave everything he was doing and come to her aid. Despite his confirmation of being on his way, he turned up 4hours later. Her reaction this time whilst waiting? Oh now! “what did I do?

The next time, it was her car. An unlikely incident had occurred as another car had bumped into hers damaging her side fender. This would cause her to be without a car until the damage was fixed. Her reaction this time? Sad, pitiful thoughts.

Then she decided it may be best to buy an inverter and save up on fuel costs, only for an electrical fault to trip it off, three months down the line. Her reaction this time around – Haba! not again?

Yet another? Purchasing new tyres. She had run into a road kerb and damaged her car tyres in the process. This meant only the obvious. Lamenting out loud, as she assessed the extent of damage, she exclaimed, Oh now! Will it ever stop!!

All pessimistic viewpoints.

After several, untold experiences, her paradigm shifted and she completely understood that it wasn’t her fault but rather, unusual issues could occur at any time. Her learning point? that bills don’t stop and she should be always prepared for unplanned expenses.

My, my, she learnt this lesson the hard way and learnt it well. Shall we see what occurred next?…

Her car battery stopped functioning at an idle location, what was her reaction? She got out of her car, brought out a battery “ jump start” cable and pleaded with another road user to assist her, totally unmoved and prepared for the situation. Lol!

THE END

So dear friends, True-life OR Fiction? which would be your take?

As we start a new week, my prayer is for each of you to be objective and always have joy in your hearts, to keep moving on irrespective of your situation.

“Compliments of the season! Until my next post, Have a Beautiful Christmas!

Stay safe.
