I wish for better.

I stumbled on a Reel on Instagram that caused me to reevaluate my current situation.

It’s so easy nowadays to become defeated by the present spate. Especially if such happenings seem to have a ripple effect on us. It causes us to lose our sense of contentment and thankfulness for little things we take for granted.

What was the Reel about? It was about a healthy-looking lad that had (CHG) Coronary Heart Disease – a build-up of fat in the arteries. He was hospitalized and plugged into different devices. As I sat there watching the reel and his longing to go home, all I could think of were reasons to be more thankful.

Sometimes we allow our hiccups, to define our mood or how we react to other issues. Unknown to us that someone else with a much bigger problem would gladly give anything to be in our shoes.

That short video pushed me out of dissatisfaction into a state of thankfulness. The fact that I’m able to go wherever I please is a blessing. The fact that my limbs are functioning and I’m able to walk is also a blessing.

So many persons are in hospitals battling different health conditions. However, those of us who can walk around freely or eat whatever our hearts desire and go on planned vacations, choose to allow seemingly little issues to disrupt our reason to be joyful.

In fact when I think about the term “mood swing” I find it very puzzling. Let me expatiate.

Imagine when one has longed for a dream job and that job is dropped into your hands. Suddenly the pressure from the work causes us to become dissatisfied, full of complaints, gloomy, snappy, and unapproachable. Forgetting that we longed in our hearts for this particular job. Justifying the reason for our dissatisfaction as being a temporal mood swing. I tend to disagree and believe that lurking deep behind the mood swing is an attitude of ingratitude.

What exactly am I saying? we shouldn’t allow our present situation to define our ability to be happy no matter how difficult our situation. I speak to myself as I write this post because that video prompted me once more to maintain a thankful disposition.

I may not be able to change my present situation but I can definitely change how it affects me.

Looking forward to talking to you all soon, bye.
