One day at a time.
I guess most of you must’ve wondered why there was no post last week, let me just say (in simple terms) that we warriors have a lot to overcome compared to others.
So in rounding up from my last post, after a year and half of waiting, my expectation was realized. I guess the learning point for me throughout the whole experience was that the only constant thing in this life is change and that one must be prepared to weather the storms that come with each season in one’s life. The entire experience taught me to be strong and resilient and not to take the back sit and allow things to digress from bad to worse. I learnt to survive the harsh uncertainties that life brings and even now I know that there is no situation that would come my way that God is not able to see me through.
When you choose not to be marred by life’s situations but to face it with the strength the lord gives you, you find out that a seemingly bad situation could turn into something absolutely beautiful at the end. For me I knew the reasons why I had left my second job and although the entire process had taught me to have been more grateful and to have appreciated the little bird I had in hand, after all said and done, my prayers were answered. It took a lot of guts for me not to call it quits when I lost all my savings and not to pack everything and move back to my parents house. I had a lot of reasons to do so, my health alone, the fact that I was recovering from a relapse of the amnesia and had no steady income to take care of myself but despite this I chose not to.
So what then is my advise to those of you at the brink of losing it all or struggling without a job or the other? Do not fear. Learn to take every single day one step at a time. Don’t let the thoughts of your bills becloud your reasoning. Whatever you have or you can find your hands to do harness it to work in your favor. I am referring to legitimate work please.
Those seemingly little business ideas that keep propping up on the inside of you, don’t ignore them, it’s best to write them down and look at each one of them intricately. That way you will be able to tell which one is viable or not but note that each business idea comes with its teething challenges at the onset, once you understand this and are able to weather the storm, the sky is the limit for you.
Many relationships are born at times of distress because that is when you get to know who your real friends are and those who are just there because of what you had. A real friend sticks closer than a brother and never turns his back on you no matter the situation. Don’t be sad to let those that are not meant to be a part of your life anymore to leave. Just watch and see the way the lord will raise up people that you least expect to help you.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I’m not saying push your problems on people but have an open mind that the solution to your problem could come from anywhere. If you recall, I stated in my last post that I had been seeing a mentor after I left my second job and she had encouraged me to stop beating myself up for leaving my job, she likewise pointed me to someone who by my acquaintance with saw potential in me and realized that I would be a good fit for a special needs teacher. If I had disregarded my mentor’s direction, probably I would never have met up with the parent that required help in that area. Sometimes just by sharing your problems with close people, the solution could become obvious, so don’t be afraid to ask for help if you feel led to do so.
Push out negativity and pessimism from your thoughts. Always remember that it is the lord who gives a man the ability to gain wealth. “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth” Deuteronomy 8v18.
Above all don’t forget God in your situation and keep this verse in mind “ Except Jehovah build the house, They labor in vain that build it: Except Jehovah keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain” Psalm 127v1. Only him can give you the strength to take every single day, one step at a time and he’s the only one that can point you to the solution to your problem.
