Take time out to listen.

Blogging and searching for posts isn’t as easy as it looks. There are days when life gives you hints and there are also days when nothing comes to mind. Today being the latter instance, I made up my mind to write something nonetheless.

Please don’t be drawn back by my somewhat new blogging pattern. I’ve come to understand that everyone nowadays is wrapped up in their issues and no one seems to have time to spare. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to criticize, just stating the obvious.

There’s nothing as bad as getting so used to asking about the well-being of others, without necessarily taking time to quietly listen. Sometimes, it’s as if asking the question “how are you?” has suddenly become a repetitive statement that lacks meaning, such that it sounds this way. “Hello William, I’ve been meaning to ask you a question, Oh! forgive me, how are you by the way? ok, so em, have you by any chance stumbled on the latest report? blah, blah, blah…”.

I for one, am guilty of sometimes getting right into business so most times, when prompted by the response from others, I stop for a minute and try to do the needful. On several occasions, I have noticed that taking a few minutes to talk with someone about their well-being has its way of opening doors of friendship or building trust.

Sometimes, it may be that the other person just needs someone to talk with and to lift their spirits up but how can this occur if we don’t take time out to listen?

Now I totally understand that life does have its way of sucking us deep into daily activities but let us not forget, that we all are emotional beings, and the highest state we can attain, stems from being there for one another.

Looking forward to talking to you all soon, bye.
