The new dawn (2)
So to continue from where I left off sharing about some of the victories that occurred in my life. I noted in my previous post – “The new dawn” that just before the downsizing and my being asked to leave the first organization where I worked, I was drafted during my tenure to work in two different units. Well when this occurred I was a bit disappointed but it was because the first unit where I worked was considered to be stressful for my health hence the management of the company decided to change the unit. Unknown to me that one day this second unit would be the stepping stone for my getting a job after the downsizing.
So how did this happen? well in the second unit, the firm was involved in the exchange of instruments and I was drafted to be in charge of this desk and to liaise with the registrar. I was the first point of call whenever they required information about the instruments. About a week after my being asked to leave (as a result of the downsize), I was notified of a vacancy at their organization which had a similar job description as my previous responsibility in charge of the desk. I was scheduled for the interview and was later informed that I had been successful and this was how I was enlisted.
To say the truth, after the downsizing, it was a bit difficult for me, owing to the fact that I was discouraged and didn’t know how exactly the next job would come. After days of being pessimistic, I had started applying to various companies were I noted vacancies had been advertised in the dailies. I was just getting used to this new process of job hunting when the next job opportunity opened up for me.
So to those of you out there that may be out of a job as a result of a downsize or whatever the circumstance, don’t lose hope. Sometimes a downsize may be a birthing process for a new business idea or a better job from the lord. Choose not to worry or be pessimistic on your outlook on things because he holds you in the palm of his hands. The bible says in Luke 12v 22 -25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”.
You’d be surprised that the answer /solution to your predicament is already there but worrying could actually shut your eyes from the possibilities that are staring right in front of you. I know you may be thinking, ‘Onuoma it’s easy for you to say, you got yours on a platter of gold. No! this wasn’t always the case because if you recall in one of my earlier posts I had noted that there was a time when I left a job and waited for almost a year and half before I got a new one. That occurrence is going to be shared in my subsequent post to give further insight on how I coped throughout the duration of my wait for something better.
Take it from someone that has been there before, I know what I’m taking about when I say that you should not let anxiety or discouragement cloud your reasoning. By doing so you would only fail to see when your solution shows up for you. Losing a job can be difficult and I know because I have been there but nonetheless it could turn out to be a stepping stone for you especially when you are in the right and not in the wrong. By this I mean if your situation was not brought about by negligence to your duties.
So be encouraged and watch God work on your behalf.
